7 Tips For Pre-Summer AC Maintenance

Before Florida’s brutal summer heat arrives, take these seven steps to ensure your air conditioner is ready to perform all season long.

1. Replace the Air Filter

A fresh filter at the start of the season sets your system up for efficient airflow and clean air all summer.

2. Clean the Outdoor Condenser Unit

Remove dirt, leaves, and debris from around the condenser. Gently rinse the coil fins with a hose to remove buildup that can reduce efficiency.

3. Check the Thermostat

Test your thermostat to make sure it’s responding correctly. Consider upgrading to a programmable or smart model if you haven’t already.

4. Inspect the Condensate Drain Line

Florida’s humidity means AC systems produce a lot of condensation. A clogged drain line can cause water damage and system shutdowns. Flush it with diluted bleach to prevent algae buildup.

5. Check Refrigerant Levels

Low refrigerant is a sign of a leak that needs professional attention. If your AC isn’t cooling as well as it used to, this could be the culprit.

6. Test Run the System

Run the system before the heat hits to catch any issues while you still have time to schedule repairs without urgency.

7. Schedule a Professional Tune-Up

An Air & Energy technician will inspect all components, check refrigerant levels, and ensure your system is ready for summer. Call 941-778-0773 to schedule your pre-summer AC tune-up.
