The Early Days

Willis Carrier invented the first modern air conditioning system in 1902 to control humidity at a printing plant in Brooklyn, New York. He founded the Carrier Corporation in 1915.

Air Conditioning Goes Residential

By the 1950s, window AC units became affordable for American homeowners, driving a population boom in the Sun Belt. Florida’s population grew dramatically as a result.

Trane and the Modern Era
