Your AC stops working on a hot Florida day — here's a quick checklist before calling for service.
Verify the thermostat is set to Cool and the temperature is set below the current room temperature. Check that the batteries aren't dead if it's a battery-powered model. A surprising number of "AC outages" are thermostat issues.
Find your electrical panel and check whether the breaker for your AC unit has tripped. Reset it once. If it trips again immediately, don't reset it again — call a licensed electrician.
A severely clogged air filter can cause your AC to shut down from lack of airflow. Check and replace the filter, then see if the system restarts normally.
Make sure the outdoor condenser unit is running and that nothing is blocking airflow around it. If the unit is running but not cooling, or making unusual sounds, it's time to call for service.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, AC repair service is available throughout Manatee County. We service all makes and models (License #CAC1817161). Call (941) 778-0773 or schedule online.
