When a hurricane is approaching, protecting your home’s systems is just as important as stocking up on supplies. Here’s what to do before the storm hits.
Turn off your AC at the thermostat and the breaker before the storm. Cover the outdoor unit with a tarp or plywood to protect it from debris. After the storm, inspect the unit for damage before turning it back on.
Know where your main water shutoff is. If flooding is possible, shut off the water to prevent contamination. Check sump pumps before storm season and clear any outdoor drains.
Unplug major appliances before the storm. If you have a standby generator, test it before hurricane season. Never use portable generators indoors. Call Air & Energy at 941-778-0773.
