Hurricane preparedness goes beyond stocking water and batteries. Here’s how to protect your home’s AC, plumbing, and electrical systems before a storm hits.
Turn off your AC before a hurricane makes landfall — power surges can damage the system. Secure or bring in any loose items near the outdoor unit. After the storm, wait for a technician to inspect the system before restarting it.
Know where your main water shut-off valve is. If flooding is expected, turn off the water supply to protect your pipes. After the storm, check for leaks before turning the water back on.
Unplug sensitive electronics before the storm. If you have a whole-home generator, test it now — don’t wait until the power is already out. Ensure your electrical panel is in good condition and consider having a licensed electrician inspect it before hurricane season.
Don’t operate any electrical system that may have gotten wet. Contact Air & Energy at 941-778-0773 to inspect and restore your systems after a storm.
