Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know about AC, plumbing, electrical, and generator service in Manatee County — answered by the team at Air & Energy.

Air Conditioning

How often should I have my AC serviced?

Once a year at minimum — ideally in the spring before summer heat. In Bradenton’s climate, two visits annually is ideal. Air & Energy’s VIP Maintenance Program covers both visits plus priority scheduling and 10% off repairs.

How long does an AC system last in Florida?

10–12 years is typical in Manatee County’s heat and humidity vs. 15+ years in cooler climates. Salt air near the coast accelerates wear. Regular maintenance can push a system to 15 years even here.

Do you offer same-day AC repair?

Yes. Air & Energy has offered same-day service throughout Manatee County since 1983. Call (941) 778-0773. VIP members get priority scheduling.

Should I repair or replace my AC?

Under 8 years old — repair. Over 10 years with a major repair — replacement often makes more sense. Our technicians give honest assessments and tell you exactly what they’d do if it were their own home.

Plumbing

Do you offer emergency plumbing service?

Yes. For urgent plumbing issues like burst pipes or major leaks, call (941) 778-0773 and we’ll dispatch a licensed plumber. VIP members get priority response at no overtime premium.

What type of water heaters do you install?

Air & Energy installs Rheem and Navien water heaters including traditional tank units, tankless on-demand systems, and hybrid heat pump water heaters. We’ll recommend the right system based on your household size, usage habits, and budget.

Are your plumbers licensed in Florida?

Yes. Air & Energy holds Florida Plumbing Contractor License #CFC1429106. All plumbing work is performed by licensed, insured professionals.

Electrical

Do you do electrical panel upgrades?

Yes. Panel upgrades are one of our most common electrical services, especially in older Manatee County homes. We upgrade to modern, code-compliant panels that support today’s electrical loads including EV chargers, whole-home generators, and modern appliances.

What is surge protection and do I need it?

Whole-home surge protection guards every outlet and appliance from voltage spikes caused by lightning, utility switching, or large appliances cycling on and off. In Florida, where lightning storms are frequent, it’s one of the best investments a homeowner can make. Air & Energy installs Ditek surge protection systems.

Are your electricians licensed in Florida?

Yes. Air & Energy holds Florida Electrical Contractor License #ED13011350. All electrical work is performed by licensed professionals and inspected to code.

Generators

What size generator do I need for my home?

Sizing depends on what you want to power. A 22kW Kohler generator typically covers a whole home including AC. A smaller 14kW unit handles essentials. Air & Energy conducts a free on-site assessment to determine the right size for your specific home and usage — call (941) 778-0773 to schedule.

How does a standby generator work?

A Kohler standby generator is permanently installed outside your home and connected to your natural gas or propane line. When the power goes out, it detects the outage and starts automatically — usually within 10 seconds. When utility power returns, it shuts off automatically. No extension cords, no manual startup.

Is Air & Energy a certified Kohler dealer?

Yes. Air & Energy is Manatee County’s Kohler Titanium & Bold Certified Dealer — the only Bold Certified dealer in the Tampa Bay region. This means our technicians receive advanced factory training and we have access to Kohler’s full product line and technical support.
